Oooh lookit my hot bunz
Dear Mrs Verma,
Oh Good Heavens! I just realized that Mr Verma might be reading these posts and could get completely the wrong idea based on the title! We all know how randy he can get at the slightest provocation. From what I hear, both Mrs Katyal and her husband are still in shock at Mr Verma's insistence about them playing with his "water pistol" last Holi. Balam Pichhkari indeed!
Anyhow, your husband's raunchiness aside, what I wanted to tell you about was this lovely little restaurant I stumbled upon this afternoon. I was at Le Gourmand cafe (quite a nice coffee shop, even if they do charge you almost $3.50 ... actually, a little bit over that with tax, I think (by the way, what is with the whole added tax in Canada?! Coming from London, where the list price was what you paid, it has been a little bit of an adjustment, and if I'm totally honest, I still cringe a little every time I see the total bill as 13% higher than what I expected to pay. Though I don't know why I still expect to pay the list price, given that I know about the tax! Sometimes, I feel like such a daft cow) ... for a small cup of peppermint tea! ... at least add a bit more hot water, I wanted to say! ... 3.75 belans out of 5) to have yet another coffee chat towards what seems to be my never-ending search for finding a job (did I ever tell you about the somewhat frustrating job market here? Oh didn't I? Well, let me leave that for another day, but for now, suffice to say that it moves super slowly, and it is taking a lot longer for me to land something than what I initially expected! ... on the upside, I'm at least reading more. In fact, I just started a most interesting book called Made to Stick - a fascinating read about what makes certain ideas survive and others die out. It might be a good thing if the idea of Mr Verma keeping it in his pants next Holi survived, coz that's a sticky situation no one wants to be in, wouldn't you agree? .. Well, apart from you, perhaps!), post which I was walking back home when I stumbled upon this new place called Hot Bunzz. Well, the pictures looked inviting, and in I went.
They've a tiny place with seating for 12 or so and have only been open for about 3 weeks, as I was informed by the most friendly manager/owner. Oh oh Mrs Verma, I simply must tell you how witty I was with him! But for that to make sense, first some context.
So this place is fairly recent (and while most people perhaps wouldn't want to try something new, I've always been quite the trend setter, haven't I? ... after all, only Aamir Khan and I thought Chandrapur was fashionable way back in the late 90s ... but I digress.), and they do a menu of baos and other slightly larger buns with filling in them, with a bunch of sides. Essentially, they're all about the bun.
So I asked the manager if this place was new, and he said "yes yes, we just opened up three weeks ago. We're very fresh" ... and I .. oh Mrs Verma .. I can barely write I'm still chuckling .. and I said "oh good. Fresh buns!" ... LOL.
Anyhoo, I ordered this combo of a Sexxy Bun with a side (as opposed to a Street Bun with a side, coz I'm classy like that), and it was dee-licious! I'm not down with today's kids on Instagram and stuff, but I did take a quick picture ...
All that cost me $12.50. And you know the best part, Mrs V? The tax was included! Hallelujah! 4 belans indeed.
Well that was the very nice outing this morning. Now let me get back to letting companies know why I would be an asset for anyone who is willing to hire me. Sigh!
I hope your cleaning lady is back?
Yours,
GG
